August 29- September 2:
7th Grade Science:
Monday we will be taking an iAssignment over matter. Tuesday we will find the volume of regular objects as well as practice finding liquid volume. Wednesday we will have some more practice with volume before starting the "Design a Box" project. Thursday will be spent on the "Design a Box" project.
*No school Friday or Monday.
8th Grade Science:
Monday we will complete our alka seltzer lab. Tuesday we will finish our graph from Monday and I will reteach hypothesis and variables. Students that have Mastery on these concepts will get an alternate assignment. Wednesday and Thursday we will focus on data tables and graphs.
*No school Friday or Monday.
September 6-9:
7th Grade Science:
No school Monday! Tuesday we will be taking an iAssignment over finding liquid volume and the volume of a regular object. Wednesday we will talk about how to find the volume of irregular objects and if time allows complete a lab. Thursday we will work on logging into Canvas so that we can start working on assignments in that program. We will also do a review lab about finding mass and volume. Friday we will take a quiz that covers all standards we have studied so far.
8th Grade Science:
No school Monday! Tuesday we will enter our iAssignments Thursday and then students will have a chance to re-assess over IV, DV, hypothesis, and testable question. Wednesday we will focus on writing materials lists and procedures. We have a fun activity with marshmallows to help us with that! Thursday we will focus on writing conclusions and review filling out a data table and graph. Friday we will take an iAssignment.
September 12-16:
7th Grade Science:
Monday we introduced the idea of physical properties. Tuesday we will continue working on this idea and add some vocabulary (density, texture, viscosity, etc.). Wednesday we will complete a lab so we can explore properties like conductivity, malleability, and density. Thursday we will explore chemical properties. Friday we will take an iAssignment.
8th Grade Science:
Monday students completed a Science Tools lesson using their textbook and Canvas. They MUST have this done in order to do the Science Tools lab Tuesday. Wednesday we will discuss the qualities of a fair test and then Thursday we will take the summative. Friday we will take a pre-test over Ecology and complete an article review in Canvas.
September 19-23:
7th Grade Science:
Monday we will do some house keeping (put in our quiz from Friday) and then we will make slime. Tuesday we will finish the slime lab and I will do some demos that show physical and chemical changes. Key words this week are physical change, chemical change, and law of conservation of mass. Tuesday night please go over lesson 3.3 on CK-12. Wednesday we will continue working through lesson 3.3 on CK-12 and make sure our graphic organizer is filled out. We will also discuss chemical changes and do an activity. Thursday we will complete the Mystery Powder Lab. Friday we will rotate through physical changes stations.
8th Grade Science:
Monday our focus will be on completing missing work; summative, pre-test, Puffin article review. Tuesday and Wednesday I will re-teach some of the material from the summative and give all students the opportunity to re-assess. Thursday we will start our ecosystems unit by working on some vocab and completing an assignment on Canvas. Friday we will be looking at biomes more in-depth and do a vocab activity.
September 26-30:
7th Grade Science:
Monday we will be taking an iAssignment over physical and chemical properties. Students will have two homework assignments. The pre-lab is due Tuesday and the study guide is due Friday. Tuesday we will complete a Mystery Powders lab where we will conduct several tests to find the identity of an unknown substance. Wednesday we will look at energy transfers and temperature changes. I have two fun activities planned for this. Thursday we will review for the summative and Friday we will take the summative. I highly recommend students come for help BEFORE taking the summative. I tutor on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 until 3:30.
8th Grade Science:
Monday we will be looking at the differences between abiotic and biotic factors in an ecosystem. Tuesday we will keep building our background knowledge of ecology to help set us up for our biomes project. Wednesday we will take a quiz. Thursday we will start our research for our project and Friday we will hopefully finish that research so we can start the project Monday.
